going green

well now that I am to be a grandmother, with a pregnant daughter just beginning- ha- I am searching for ways to create maternity wear with in my means, and have just gobbled up all the amazingly talented designers of remaking and redesigning castoff or gently worn clothing. Makes my hands itch to do all of this stuff but lack of time permits me, as well as the arthritis and fibromialgia at times. I miss all the sewing and painting and embroidery I did when my children were smaller and then growing up. At times I feel like my usefulness has ended in one way , and my life has gone another. who knew divorce and being left behind would be so overwhelmingly lonely- while I still see my children and friends my life has changed.
Soooooooooo on to doing things in a new way for others, I can still sew and create things for those who are not my own and love every moment and feel like I am doing something contributing to the world... now off to find some scissors and fabric-- lol and maybe search a few more blogs along the way : )

certainly been a long time

well as life has a tendency of moving on, I have greatly missed hanging with my dear friend Samantha at the library and continuing to press on with my genealogical research. I must say the frustrations of the celtic naming system as well as just plain old common place names has been increasingly frustrating. There must be kinsmen out there who can open the doors?!!

RESEARCHING THE FOLLOWING NAMES: too many to list ha!
Sands Stanley, John Patterson, Thomas Riggs, William Riley Riggs, Abraham Riggs, David Ketchum, William Kellum, O C Kidd, Noah Douglas- by the way Karen has deeply searched Douglas.
WOMEN Hannah June Hill, Mittie A Douglas, Lousia Kellum Cook Ketchum.
my mothers people intermarried other family names a LOT! Hickman, Brown, Cook, Ketchum, Kellum- all tennessee, kentucky, missouri, kansas, ok and tx.

The other side are just as frustrating- Grandmother Marybelle Freeman Ketchum 1895-2005 born chicago, cook, illinois- mother Ellen Jane McClaughry married William Aurthur Freeman in
july 10, 1895 in Cook illinois. supposedly they were both workers/volunteers in the salvation army- granny said they saw all kinds of photos of themselves at a fair? in chicago- she said the great fair, but I guess it could of been any kind of large event in a child's eyes. Her father disappeared- we were told bought off, but who knows. I long to connect with any John Curry and ellen jane driscoll descendants. We know nothing of them since he died in the Civil war. was he paid to enlist, or did he oppose the slavery? comming from Ireland, I guess we will never know unless someone else directly descending with documentation comes forward .
CURRY MCCLAUGHRY FREEMAN
my married lines- Collier, Ham, Kelley, Morgan, Berry, Vandiver, Fields, Wood, Parks
loss of family is painful, not just the physical missing of their personality but all the information stored inside their memories. I miss my daddy so much, but also the loss of all the aunts and uncles who live so far away. I love you and miss each and every one of you.
while I reside in Texas, these family members seem to stay primarily in the south for at least 100
years.

well this is downright scary

honestly I am trying to do all the stuff BUT havent realized I did not blog everytime!! oh my!!

well I loved good read, it has some wonderful ideas for me to read as times go by, just to make me a booklist AH! I am finally back and ready to read once again for pleasure- I seemed to have given it up since 2006, so it is way too long. JOY!
enjoyed searching the library thing, but was vastly disappointed with trying to pull up books off book search. Amazon has lots of books by the authors I was searching, but oddly enough not one single suggestion popped up.. go figure!

I do not like facebook as much as myspace, As far as a social network place, it is much superior as to privacy as to what I share, I dont get all the ridiculous games farmblah add ons and I probably post too much things that I am passionate about so I am considering closing my account. I like to email, and love to instant message, but frankly I am hurt by the things I see on my own daughter's page and of my oldest sister. It seems more gossipy, I dont know.

I love utube, because I have watched college courses from universities I would never be able to afford, gotten algebra homework help, listened to music and laughed my head off at children and singing, but mainly use it for learning, now what does that say about me?

blog seraching new discoveries

well I have been finding some really interesting blogs, looking for prison ones but only found 2- one that is pretty accurate in Texas- grits for texas. I have looked at those on cyndis list, and family trees top 50. however this one is pretty good information to add to this class for genealogists http://genealogy.about.com/od/blogs/a/rss.htm .

hm, what I am learning and the journey of frustration: {

well actually, LOL, I have loved learning all the new methods of journaling, groupings, various methods of interaction via internet, BUT the one thing that I find maddening is that I must have all these insane log ins, and various accounts- and I THOUGHT meebo would eleveate all of that it doesnt actually. I have at least five different log ins with their passwords. I hate that to use some of the cool programs I must have yet another account. SO with that in mind I will probably close a few and loose all that cool stuff. I have a yahoo account for certain groups, I have a gmail account for my blog, a netzero account for daily emails, yahoo again for work, another for flicker and so on. UNLESS I TOTALLY missunderstand meebo's purpose lol.. I love being able to have automatic feed sent directly to my email.

The fascinating thing about the myspace, facebook is talking to folks soooo far away- and while I dont understand all the intricacy of them- it has been fun to see what is going on in the lives of others. Sometimes it feels like spying though and I really dont like that. I would love to instant messanger but back to the multiple logins and so on. I just need to find one that does everything that I like and make it simple.
Tagging and bookmarking is how I live now. I just have such limited time to be online a day, and frankly I see what the BIG issue is about how much time teens and adults are online doing things when LIFE is out there

ok new family photo of the Ham, Willig, and Rogers families

this is what genealogy is all about to me- I think almost everyone in this picture has now passed on. In the 26 plus years I was been married - we only had 2 family get togethers. One on each side of the family. How sad.

this is one of the cool things I have learned to do taking this class with Sims library!
